Our event will be hosted in the Goose Island neighborhood right on the Chicago River.

Mats, Straps, and Blocks are available, so while you can bring your own (awesome) MFY Gear, you don't have to worry about adding it to your luggage.

Session 1:

9:00 AM – 10:30 AM

Healthy Lower‑Back

Build a strong, pain-free lower back through targeted core strength, hip mobility, and spinal stability exercises. You’ll learn why stability must precede mobility and how proper muscle activation—not just stretching—creates lasting pain relief. Leave with practical techniques to strengthen critical muscle groups and improve spinal function for immediate comfort and long-term back health.

Session 2:

11:00 AM – 12:30 PM

Shoulders & Upper‑Back

This session targets thoracic opening, shoulder strength, and mobility while addressing common muscle imbalances. You’ll learn how to strengthen weak upper-back muscles, correct posture issues caused by yoga-only programs, and isolate spinal mobility to avoid over-reliance on the hips.

Balance, Healthy Knees & Ankles

Balance is more than just a skill—it’s a combination of strength, awareness, and control. In this session, we’ll focus on strengthening the hips, ankles, and core to improve stability and prevent injuries. You’ll learn how to build awareness of foot and ankle muscles, develop strength in key stabilizers, and recognize the ever-changing nature of balance.

Session 4:

11:00 AM – 12:30 PM

Deepening Hip & Shoulder Flexibility

By incorporating longer hold times and strength-building techniques, you’ll develop functional flexibility that supports your movements rather than limits them. This approach ensures that your body remains both supple and strong for long-term mobility and injury prevention.

DEAN POHLMAN

Dean Pohlman is an E-RYT 200 certified yoga instructor and the founder of Man Flow Yoga. Dean is widely considered to be an authority on Yoga for Men. He has worked with physical therapists to create yoga programs for back health and spinal recovery. His workouts and programs have been used by professional and collegiate athletes, athletic trainers, and personal trainers; and have been recommended by physical therapists, doctors, chiropractors, and other medical professionals.

The Man Flow Yoga Weekend Workshop is a two-day transformative series of workshops. Join Dean and the MFY community on Saturday and Sunday for a series of empowering yoga sessions and transformative movement.

For the cost of just a couple of private sessions, you get eight hours of expert yoga training focusing on core strength, hip mobility, balance, and upper body. This efficient approach includes personalized coaching that you’d typically need several classes to receive. YES! The primary goal of this weekend is to improve your technique with in-person instruction and feedback. We have a wide range of attendees for these events. Some have not ever done yoga, some haven’t done it for years. But what unites us is the desire to get better. I promise you will feel safe and accepted, whatever your yoga or fitness level
Early bird pricing is $297 for the full weekend. After that, the price will go up to $397.

Free street parking on N. North Branch street and behind the building on Cherry Lane.

Our first session begins at 9am. Plan to arrive with enough time before to get checked in and set up.

August temperatures in Chicago are genereally comfortable with lows of 70 ° F and and highs up to 85 ° F. Keep an eye on the weather before you pack.

We suggest wearing anything you feel comfortable doing yoga in. For some, this might look like yoga pants and t-shirts. For others, it’s casual everyday clothes. Whatever makes you comfortable and is flexible enough to train in. You’ll likely break a sweat, so be prepared for that!

All equipment will be provided. If you’d like to bring your own super cool Man Flow Yoga gear, we’ll be using a Yoga mat, 2 blocks, and a strap. It’s up to you if you’d like to bring a knee pad. Bring water and a snack for breaks between workshops!

You can expect two dedicated yoga sessions per day. These sessions will be focused on growing in your practice, learning new techniques, and guiding you through good form and mobility.

We plan on doing an event in Washington DC this fall. But due to Dean being a husband and father to 2 small kids, travel options are limited.
