Yoga for Athletes is a tool for athletes to get stronger with yoga.
It’s a problem -> solution guide for athletes to diagnose their weaknesses and get stronger, using yoga. In particular, Yoga for Athletes is directed to endurance athletes and athletes who lift weights to help improve their performance with the following:
A targeted assessment to determine weaknesses and areas of opportunity
The targeted assessment uses select poses to help you understand areas of your mobility or flexibility that need improvement, and then tells you your weaknesses and areas of opportunity based on your performance in those poses.
Specific focus on 2 types of athletes:
- Endurance Athletes (runners, cyclists, triathletes, etc)
- Weight Lifters (resistance training, cross training, powerlifters, etc)
Rather than making this a yoga book for everybody, we’ve narrowed in on these two types of athletes to help show them how yoga can improve their performance.
Identifying Training Gaps & Common Weaknesses
Yoga For Athletes lists common weaknesses, injuries, training gaps, and the main causes of preventable injuries. Then give s you the poses & targeted routines to help address them.
The training gaps section goes through specific aspects of training that athletes typically miss in their traditional training routines. Things like breathing, mobility/flexibility work, isometric strengthening, body awareness, balance, and so on.
In-depth pose guide
Technique instructions to maximize the effectiveness of each pose. How to build more strength, improve muscle activation, increase active mobility, and how to use your breathing to improve.
Yoga For Athletes covers all the bases with contributions from experts in the health and wellness industry: Kelly Starrett, Brian Mackenzie, Nick Bare, and Francheska Martinez
How to integrate yoga into your existing workout routine.
Get stronger in just 10 minutes a day!! There’s no need to attend 60-minute yoga classes in-person to get the benefits of yoga. You can easily increase your flexibility, improve your performance, and build strength with just a few minutes of yoga per day using 30+ targeted routines from the book.
You’re a busy athlete with a workout schedule that’s probably already full. Rather than ask you to give up 2 or 3 of those workouts, this book gives you advice on how to painlessly add yoga into what you already do. Keep doing what you enjoy, and add just a few minutes of yoga to help you get better!!
This book is everything you need – and nothing you don’t – to improve your performance as an athlete.

Did you know…
I got my start in yoga while I was a collegiate lacrosse player. I realized how much stronger I was becoming as a result of my regular yoga practice, and that’s what inspired me to start creating yoga workouts in the first place. Eventually I went on to create Man Flow Yoga, to write Yoga Fitness for Men, co-produce the Body By Yoga Series, and then had the honor of coming full circle in writing this brand-new book, Yoga for Athletes. I hope you’ll purchase a copy!
Not an athlete?
We’re not going to lie and say this book was made for you, but if you’re interested in improving your overall strength, mobility, or physical fitness, then there’s definitely something useful in here for you.
