Is Yoga Good For Golf?

Is yoga good for golf? Is yoga breathing good for your golf swing?  These are questions I’ve been asked, and the answer is YES. Yoga develops a strong sense of balance, core strength, flexibility, and of course, the ability to take long controlled breaths to stabilize yourself. This translates to a stronger more flexible you, so you can get the best out of your golf game.

A yoga for golf video has been a discussion topic since I’ve started Man Flow Yoga, but I’ve never made the video. The main reason was that I wouldn’t be sure about what to include. I could make assumptions, certainly, but I didn’t want this to be just another yoga video claiming to help whatever sport it addressed because “yoga is good for everybody, always!”

I needed the material to pertain to golf specifically and understand the difficulties that golfers faced. So I turned to my network, and quickly remembered that I have a cousin who golfs professionally and an uncle who used to.

I spoke with my cousin and from him, I learned about the target areas and movements that are essential to a golfer’s swing. He also taught me about the common issues that golfers struggle with, not to mention the imbalances that they develop from swinging in only one direction.

So, after a couple of hours of discussion with him, coming up with a list of potential poses, choosing the most effective ones, and then putting them together into a workout that made sense…
