“I’m only 55… why does my back feel like this?”

I’d had recurrent back pain for about three years, and I thought, “Oh,” you know, I’m only 55 at the time, and I thought, “This is just terrifying.” Had been to see a back surgeon, and he said, “I can give you injections,” which scared me even more. I’d tried yoga before, and I never really felt like I was getting stronger. So when I found Man Flow, I thought, “This is just brilliant. It’s actually for men.” They’re going to know that I’m not flexible maybe three months in.
I was jumping out of bed. I was a lot less moody in the morning. I just feel more alive. When I go to see my friends, I feel like I’m stood up more when I’m walking, and I just feel a bit more, probably 20 years younger

As I’m getting older, I realize the importance of keeping my body flexible and strengthening my back, strengthening my knees, and yoga offered all of those benefits. Like when I’m running, I’ve noticed that it helps my recovery time a lot. Also, everyday activities, I know that my back is stronger, my core is stronger because I’m trying to do yoga consistently. It’s been an awesome program, and really been a positive thing for me

“Life’s good.”

A year ago, my health issues were at the forefront. They’re now not at the forefront. I’m quite sprightly now, quite flexible. Simple things like I don’t get up to the toilet now in the middle of the night, so I get a better night’s sleep. The other benefits are it’s improved my sex life, which I think is very important at my age, and I’ve also got the energy to do things in the day that I never had before.
There’s always something spare in the tank to do stuff with, whereas you think, oh, now after a day’s work, you go home and you just slump. Well, that’s not the case now. I can do other things. What more can you say? Life’s good.

"I was hooked from day one. My strength has greatly improved. I'm back to deadlifting at upwards of 300 lb."

Well, I was suffering from a really bad cervical neuropathy that was disabling my ability to work out and my massage therapist suggested that yoga would be useful for me. So, when this thing came through my Facebook feed, I took a look at it and I thought, “Wow, this looks like really reasonable to try and I can do it at home.” I was hooked from day one. My strength has greatly improved. I’m back to deadlifting at upwards of 300 lb.
I’m really excited about that.

"It hasn't gotten easier. I've just gotten stronger."

Seeing the strength that I have gained, and it still challenges me. It’s not like it’s become easier, it’s just that I have gained some strength, and then the movements still offer new challenges as I continue to go deeper into those. So that’s been very helpful. And I find myself during the day doing some sort of random spontaneous things. I’ll do a mountain pose, or I might do some side stretches, and the deep breathing, long breaths through the nose have been very helpful in dealing with stress.
It’s really been a good thing, and very much worth what I’m paying for it, and I enjoy the community. It’s a good community of guys who are learning together and making improvements together, and hopefully all can stay strong.

“Almost gone!"

My chronic lower back pain and my chronic neck pain, it’s almost gone. I have not been eating any pills. I began doing yoga last year and after a couple of times, I got hooked. My general practitioner told me to try it for my chronic back pain and neck pain, for which I took medication every single day. It has been very rewarding because I have seen results. I have become stronger. I have become more flexible.
I’m challenging myself. That is exactly what I was looking for and I found it.

I’ve always fought with depression. In 2020, when everybody’s in lockdown, I think I did 115 workouts that year. And I felt like I was in a better place, happier, much more in tune with my body and where I was in my life. And it really was a great accomplishment, especially at I think a fairly dark time in 2020. What was going on with COVID, I got laid off, and then, you know, new jobs and all the stress of that.
I think it really helped to maintain that level of stress.

"My hips are healing really well... My muscles are getting stronger again, and I'm feeling better all the time."

I really did supplement the PT quite a bit uh when I had both my hips replaced last year. My hips are healing really well. I had my x-ray from my second surgery and that the bones are fully healed in both hips. I’m trying to get back to hopefully riding a spin bike again. And at this point, I’m doing the strength foundation course, building myself back up, and it’s going really well. My muscles are getting stronger again, and I’m feeling better all the time.
